Older Birds

From time to time older birds (generally two- or three-year-olds ) will be available. These birds are not rescues or troubled birds. They are birds raised in our aviaries who are returned to the flock because of unanticipated life changes. These birds are sold for less than a recently weaned baby, usually an amount commensurate to the boarding and time spent in reacclimating the bird.

We are very careful in our screening of potential families for these special birds. They have suffered rejection once in their brief lives and we want to assure them that it won't happen again. These birds are sold with our customary health guarantee; they have been recently cultured and received their Polyomavirus boosters.

The Pandemic of Throwaway Birds

While we are not a rescue facility, there are times that we simply cannot ignore the plight of abandoned parrots. It is very difficult for us to accept these birds in light of our "closed aviary" policy, but we will on occasion accept a bird if we are able to quarantine, isolate and obtain donations for health care and testing.

If you are interested in helping us with these birds, please contact us.
